Electronica 2008: day 211/13/2008 The second day was noted by celebrating the anniversary of the company Rohde&Schwarz. This year the company R&S has fully renewed the design of it’s booth. A lot of attention attracts the vector signal generator R&S SMBV100A. The new, attractively priced R&S SMBV100A vector signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz offers performance that until now has been available only in considerably more expensive instruments. It provides an output level of typ. +24 dBm up to 6 GHz and a maximum RF bandwidth of 528 MHz. Digital standards such as WiMAX, 3GPP FDD, HSPA and LTE can be configured directly on the instrument using its intuitive user interface. An integrated modulation generator generates the baseband signals internally, eliminating the need for a PC. Since users can perform on-site service themselves, downtime and cost of ownership are reduced to a minimum. Straight on the booth there are Bavarian sausages and beer among the devices for discussing the innovative solutions and characteristics of brand news from company R&S. After beer and sausages the male part of society wanted shows. That’s why the propositions of the company XJTAG were met with great enthusiasm. This company offers XJTAG-testing system — XJTAG-Board, based on capability of use the JTAG interface for analysis of correctness of connection of assembled printed circuit board. For such type of analysis it is convenient to use a small, portable USB-2.0-JTAG- adapter, which provides a high-speed data exchange (480 Mbits/s). The small, lightweight design means the XJLink can easily be moved to the Unit Under Test (UUT). Advanced features, like its programmable JTAG signal pin position, switchable power supply and auto signal skew, make it easy to connect to a wide range of circuit boards. Simple to install and use due to its USB plug-and-play ability. But it’s necessary to mention not only interesting solutions in this field, but also successful marketing move. It was necessary to see who and how was telling about new products in this field to the numerous visitors. Obviously, it was just impossible to pass up such an interesting booth. As usual, Agilent Technologies introduces a very interesting booth. It was the first realization of the idea of demonstration the products up to principle “from the simple to the complex”. Because of that it was a necessity to use a stair to the bench with equipment. For readers of our magazine Scott Sampl, VP & GM DTD Oscilloscope of the company Agilent Technologies, gave an interview. We are going to publish it in the nearest future in our magazine.
