Rohde & Schwarz adds microwave models to its R&S® FSV family of signal and spectrum analyzers11/20/2008 Rohde & Schwarz has now added two additional models to its new R&S® FSV family: one up to 13.6 GHz and one up to 30 GHz. Users can therefore enjoy functionality that is unique in this class – for example, top measurement speed and easy operation via a touch screen – also in the microwave range. The R&S® FSV13 and R&S® FSV30 combined signal and spectrum analyzers stand out particularly due to their sensitivity and large-signal immunity. Especially in the microwave range, sensitivity is an important criterion when selecting a spectrum analyzer. For spurious emissions up to 12.75 GHz in wireless communications equipment and systems, as well as in higher frequency ranges as is the case with satellites or military systems, the requirements are very stringent. A low displayed average noise level (DANL) yields measurement results that are more accurate because the signal-to-noise ratio is greater. Featuring a DANL of less than –148 dBm (1 Hz) at 13 GHz and less than –144 dBm (1 Hz) at 30 GHz as well as a third order intercept of 15 dBm, the R&S® FSV can hold its own even alongside high-end instruments. Due to its unique high sweep speed, the R&S® FSV performs measurements significantly faster than comparable instruments. This holds true especially when a narrow measurement bandwidth is used. For users from the aerospace and defense sector, the new R&S® FSV models offer a removable hard drive and USB interfaces that can be deactivated. Sensitive data from high-security areas thus remains safe and sound. By making the new instruments compatible with legacy instruments, Rohde & Schwarz meets the requirement of keeping test systems in service for decades to come. Like all instruments of the R&S® FSV family, the R&S® FSV13 and R&S® FSV30 support all current mobile radio and wireless standards by means of software applications. An analysis bandwidth of 40 MHz makes even WLAN 802.11n no problem. A measurement demodulator for AM, FM or φM demodulators plus the support of Rohde & Schwarz power sensors are also important features for development and production. Moreover, both models impress users with their convenient operating concept which includes a touch screen, an on-screen keyboard and an expanded control panel.
