With new 13 GHz and 16 GHz models, the R&S RTP high-performance oscilloscope family, the most compact multi-purpose lab instrument available, is now scalable from the 4 GHz minimum up to the full 16 GHz bandwidth. Additional new highlights are powerful debugging functions such as the high-speed serial pattern trigger using hardware-based clock-data-recovery (CDR) up to 16 Gbps, or the DDR4 signal integrity and compliance test. The R&S RTP oscilloscope now also provides time domain reflection (TDR) and transmission (TDT) analysis to characterize and debug signal paths.

The 5G NR protocol conformance tests were presented at GCF’s Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) meeting 59. These tests are vital for next generation mobile communication technology. This is because mobile network operators worldwide rely on the certification schemes of the GCF and PTCRB certification forum for mobile devices in their networks.

T&M companies Rohde & Schwarz and Marvin Test Solutions have cooperated to create a unique turnkey solution suited for beamforming integrated circuits (IC) used in 5G mmWave (FR2) and satellite communications. The resulting production tester TS 900e-5G from Marvin Test Solutions is based on the new R&S ZNBT40 multiport vector network analyzer (VNA) from Rohde & Schwarz.

Rohde & Schwarz has been from the very beginning an active participant in the 3GPP standardization process involving cellular technologies, including the upcoming 5G NR. Five leading technology experts at Rohde & Schwarz have written an all-encompassing book on the subject of 5G NR in order to provide valuable, in depth information for the professionals working with 5G NR technology.

The analog microwave signal generator R&S SMA100B now provides microwave signals up to 67 GHz with industry-leading RF performance. In overrange operation, it even provides signals up to 72 GHz. The R&S SMA100B generates signals with lowest single sideband phase noise and highest output power with extremely low harmonics at the same time.

The Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic (ANS CR) modernizes its voice communications system (VCS) for simulation and training and has chosen Rohde & Schwarz to supply the new turnkey solution. The core of the project is the R&S VCS-4G technology, with a total number of almost 200 controller working positions for the ATC simulators at locations in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Karlovy Vary.

Rohde & Schwarz has conducted first field tests of network performance and quality from the end-user perspective on a live 5G NR network using commercially available 5G NR devices such as the Samsung S10 5G. This is an important step to verify that the 5G network performance supports the demanding technical requirements and delivers the required Quality of Experience to the end user. Rohde & Schwarz mobile network testing solutions for engineering, site acceptance, optimization, benchmarking and monitoring offer the ability to conduct such measurements using commercially available smartphones.

The School of Physics at the University of Sydney recently replaced their existing oscilloscopes with R&S RTB2000 and R&S RTM3000 oscilloscopes from Rohde & Schwarz.
