Rohde & Schwarz has been awarded a contract by Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. (BNS) to equip six vessels for the Royal Malaysian Navy with its full turnkey integrated communications system (ICS). The core component is R&S NAVICS, a comprehensive technology for next generation naval communications. The contract is part of a series of international successes for Rohde & Schwarz that include projects in the UK, Australia, the Netherlands and Spain.

The R&S THR9 family of high-power FM transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz now includes the HD RadioTM standard, which represents the fourth generation of digital radio. This helps operators of HD RadioTM stations to reduce energy, maintenance and leasing costs over the entire lifecycle of their transmitters. Based on decades of experience, Rohde & Schwarz has launched the first liquid-cooled HD RadioTM transmitter that offers outstanding performance in a small footprint.

After its successful debut last year, Rohde & Schwarz will present its steadily growing portfolio of oscilloscopes at Sensor+Test 2016. The services and applications that 5G will provide as well as the technologies will that make them possible have not yet been defined. However, even today, it is clear that it will be necessary to transmit extremely broadband signals up into the millimeter wave range. Rohde & Schwarz supports the many research activities to make this spectrum usable for 5G.

The R&S TS8980FTA-2 test system from Rohde & Schwarz is the only conformance test system that offers validated test cases in all relevant GCF TDD bands for Uplink Carrier Aggregation (CA UL). Manufacturers of mobile user equipment and chipsets as well as test houses can use this to verify their CA UL implementation in accordance with the test specification 3GPP TS 36.521-1.

Rohde & Schwarz has been chosen by the Hungarian Ministry of Defense to deliver additional R&S VCS-4G voice communications system (VCS) equipment for the Papa NATO airbase in Hungary.
